Executive Officer Alice Dowdin Calvillo
Ms. Alice Dowdin Calvillo has dedicated her professional career of almost 40 years to public service at the State and local levels. Appointed by the Sacramento County Civil Service Commission in 2013, she serves as Executive Officer of this quasi-judicial and policy setting body. Previously, she advised two California governors in several senior level positions, served as a chief policy committee consultant in the California State Assembly, chaired the California Public Employment Relations Board, and was Mayor of Auburn three times during her more than 13 years on the Auburn City Council. Ms. Dowdin Calvillo was re-elected to the City Council for fourth, non-consecutive term in 2024.
As Auburn’s representative, Ms. Dowdin Calvillo is in her fifth term as Chair of Pioneer Community Energy Board of Directors. She also sits on the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, the Placer County Transportation and Planning Agency, where she serves as Vice Chair, and the City’s Endurance Capital of the World Committee. She was recently re-elected to the California League of Cities Board of Directors by her city council peers throughout the Sacramento Valley region.
She sits on the Placer High School Hillman Foundation Board of Directors, a non-profit board supporting her high school alma mater, and along with her husband, serves as a parent volunteer at U.C. Berkeley where their daughter attends.
Ms. Dowdin Calvillo has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science-Public Service and German from the University of California, Davis, and is married to Frank, a US Marine Corps officer (ret.). She is an active trail runner and enjoys traveling as time permits.
